New Deftones Album Expected For November Release

Friday, October 9, 2015 1 comments

(Sorry for the dead time and lack of site updates. More to come, including a new look.)

Many of you already know that the as yet untitled new Deftones album is expected to hit the market in November.

"I think October or November, probably November," frontman Moreno hinted to Loudwire. "As of today, we are rushing to get our thank you's and credits turned in. Once the music is turned in, which should be in the next couple of weeks, there is still some mixing and mastering to be done. But the recordings are all done. The songs are all there. They are awesome and we're excited about it."

Waxman Delgado talked on the different approach they took with the process of the new record. "This one was different," Delgado said in a previous interview. "This one was a lot of starting and stopping, which I think is something we would've been scared of before."

It was a much needed change of pace allowing rest and more time for a creative headspace.

"For the last couple of records, we went in and we started writing and we didn't stop until we finished the record," he said. "This one we took our time and it was a good pace. Everyone needed that break to breathe, to go home to family. Now we're ready to be able to work like this. It allowed us to think about things longer as opposed to get something done by a deadline."

The new album should see release late November.

Deftones Expect To Release New Album In Fall

Wednesday, March 11, 2015 0 comments

Yesterday Chino Moreno sat down in an interview with Rolling Stone to reveal more details about Deftones' forthcoming album.

In comparison to 2012's Koi No Yokan, "I think it's a little more of a heady record," Chino says. "I feel like we've gone into the songs and really dissected them. If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven't done in the past."

The band is on schedule for traking and recording and are set to be done in the studio by March. "We've got a good jump on everything," he says. "It feels good."

There will be 16 tracks featured on the LP, more than the band has ever recorded for a final release. The album is being produced by Matt Hyde, who did tracking and production for Koi No Yokan. Chino believes there will be a Fall release for the record. "Probably September or October."

Speaking on his side project, Team Sleep and the new material that they currently have under their belts, Chino says: "A lot of this stuff is actually newer stuff that we've written in the last couple years. All those guys pretty much have day jobs and live in Sacramento – and I live in Oregon now – but recently we were able to get together and got a lot of stuff finished."

He continues:

"I'm not really too interested in starting another touring cycle and doing all the stuff to try and sell and market the record. I feel like the music has this timeless quality to it. I'd love to just put it out and have it be on some legacy shit; just let it do what it does."

Speaking on Crosses and Team Sleep, he makes it clear where his priorities lay:

"Recently, my head's been completely engulfed in the Deftones record, as it should be. It doesn't make sense right now for me to try and do three projects at one time, but when I am working on those, I have fun doing it."

New Deftones Album Winter 2015? (Quarter 4)

Wednesday, February 11, 2015 0 comments

Will we be hearing new Deftones tunes next winter? In January, Steph talked in an interview regarding the status of the follow up to 2012's Koi No Yokan.
"We are actually writing a new record and we're gonna... We're supposed to be going in to record it next month, but we're taking it as it goes. I mean, we're not all the way ready now, but we've still got time and we're working on it," he told Music Store Live.

With that in mind, if they stick to the usual grind they've applied to the last couple albums and finish within a few months, we may hear some new tracks by winter 2015. That's if all goes well and they start recording fairly soon. That's strictly based on my observation and purely speculation. No official recording or record release details have been revealed.
