Chi Cheng Passes Away at the Age of 42
It's with a heavy heart to pass this very sad news.. Deftones bassist Chi Cheng has passed away this morning at 3AM in the hospital.
Chi was making a remarkable recovery following his near fatal car accident in 2008 which left him in a coma and then to a semi-conscience state until recently.
The family had the following update to offer on the One Love For Chi site:
"Our dearest Family,This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emegency [sic] room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.
He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable. If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the onelove site.
Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.With great love and “Much Respect!” Mom J (and Chi)”
Our deepest prayers go out to Chi's family and they're strength.

Deftones Reluctantly Working on a Live Vinyl Release (1996-2013)
Chino was recently interviewed on Nikki Sixx's radio show, "Sixx Sense" and it he reveals plans of releasing a career-spanning live performance compilation pressed to vinyl from '95 to '13.
He's made it clear that he isn't fully on board with the project, stating:
“The last week and a half I’ve been having to go through all these tapes—we’re putting out a live vinyl set… for every record we’re going to put out like 4 or 5 songs from that time, that era. So I’ve been going through all these tapes from 95-96 and they’re hard to listen to… Like seriously, I really feel we’ve gotten better as a band and me as a vocalist.”The original interview can be listened to below.
